On 12 June IRONMAN will put on Eagleman in Cambridge. The IRONMAN event brings a huge number of guests and competitors and that directly impact local businesses because those people frequent many of them. Last year the two events contributed nearly $5 million dollars into the local economy.
There will be 2,500 athletes participating in the event. It all begins with a 1.2 mile swim in the Choptank River between Gerry Boyle Great Mash Park and the Cambridge Yacht Club. The swim portion of the event is the most challenging from the perspective of ensuring athlete safety. While the IRONMAN corporation provides a safety crew it absolutely needs to be augmented by support from the community. We are looking for kayakers, paddle boards, jet skis, lifeguards, and power boats. If you can help that would be greatly appreciated. Please find the link to the registration site enclosed below.

It will take you to the site then all you have to do is scroll down to the swim safety section for kayaks and enter your contact info. I’ll send out updates in the next week or so updating meeting times etc.
