The South Dorchester Folk Museum invites you to its Annual Dinner Meeting with a multi-media presentation by Dr. Harry Heckathorn. Live Wildlife Video Cameras at Blackwater: History and Update. At the very end of the 20th century before wireless internet was common in Dorchester County, a group of organizations spanning the world brought real-time video to an active bald eagle nest at Blackwater National Wildlife Refuge (NWR). This pioneer effort was the beginning of a real-time Blackwater “video and audio reality show” that has captivated wildlife enthusiasts for over 20 years and led to spin-off cameras for Ospreys and migrating waterfowl.
Join us on November 3 to hear from Friends of Blackwater NWR Volunteer Harry Heckathorn as he relates the story behind this long running broadcast and its spinoffs. He will share the latest sights and sounds from the current five, live wildlife cameras and microphones that have delighted enthusiasts around the world
The cost for dinner is $35.00 per person. The public is invited to attend. Reservations with payments should be mailed by October 26 to South Dorchester Folk Museum, P.O. Box 181, Church Creek Maryland 21622.
