Choptank Transport is not only celebrating its twentieth anniversary this year, it will be the company’s ninth year supplying annual Thanksgiving food donations for area families who are food insecure.
Talbot and Dorchester County residents were grateful for another delivery of donations from the logistics provider headquartered in Preston, Maryland. Two hundred and twenty-five roasters and assorted dessert cakes were distributed several days preceding the holiday. The recipients included St. Vincent de Paul, Neighborhood Service Center in Easton, and Hurlock United Methodist Church.
“The annual Thanksgiving support from Choptank Transport is earmarked for our seniors,” said Marilyn Neal, the executive director at Easton’s Neighborhood Service Center. “Knowing we can count on these donation makes things less stressful for our agency and seniors who benefit from Choptank’s generosity. We are always extremely grateful!”
Food Pantry Manager Kathy Weaver at St. Vincent de Paul added, “COVID-19 is exacerbating the need for food and everything else in life in December! We appreciate the company’s thoughtfulness and their caring attitude for the community.”
Choptank’s CEO Geoff Turner enjoyed making the annual delivery again at St. Vincent de Paul. “This has been a difficult time for many in our community,” said Turner. “With the impact that COVID-19 has had on people’s lives, doing our part felt all the more important this year.”
