After more than three decades of offering support groups, educational programming, and one-to-one consulting, Talbot Hospice seemed well prepared for any challenge it faced when working with issues related to bereavement. And up until the COVID pandemic hit two years ago, that would have been a fair statement.
But as Talbot Hospice bereavement team members Linda Barton and Rev. Jody Gunn note their recent interview with the Spy, nothing could have prepared them for the sudden and complex impact COVID has had on how the community grieves. Beyond the challenges of supporting those at the last stage of their life, which have been considerable, Talbot Hospice’s traditional services had to be totally reinvented as families sought out help in dealing with the unexpected death of a loved one.
The Spy sat down with Linda and Jody a few weeks ago to discuss these challenges.
This video is approximately three minutes in length. For more information about Talbot Hospice and their bereavement services please go here.
