As part of Spy’s “On the Waterfront” series, we will be keeping the community informed on the status of the waterfront project and also the deliberations of Cambridge Waterfront Development Inc.(CWDI).
But we also want to use this series to share new and creative ideas from regular Cambridge residents. One of those is Lynda Brooks. With a career in marketing, a professional voiceover actor, and more recently, the former manager of the Cambridge Main Street Farmers’ Market, Lynda has paid close attention to the Waterfront discussion since moving to town in 2010. That interest led her to form the popular Operation: Destination Cambridge Facebook page while also becoming a strong advocate of creating a “sea organ” on the waterfront.
Her inspiration for the sea organ comes from seeing The Sea Organ and Sun Salutation of Zadar in Croatia a few years ago. This novel crowd-pleaser uses the waves of water to create soothing sounds, but it has also created one of the country’s top tourist attractions.
In her Spy interview, Lynda outlines this “out of the box” model, which she believes will put Cambridge on the map as the only existing sea organ in North America.
This video is approximately four minutes in length. For more information about Operation: Destination Cambridge please visit their Facebook page here.
