I’m very happy to endorse Susan Delean-Botkin, my wife, for State Delegate for District 37B. Susan has been a private practice nurse practitioner in Easton for 20+ years. She has developed a large and growing practice because she takes care to get sick people well and keep them well. She has also successfully managed her small business, Family Care of Easton, through good and bad economic times, including the extraordinary challenges of COVID. Her patients appreciate her caring for and about them, whether they are liberals or conservatives, watermen, farmers, older or younger, white, black or brown.
She successfully ran for Talbot County Board of Education six years ago and is currently President of that Board, having just recently led the search for our highly qualified new Superintendent. She cares deeply about the children of this county and wants to do everything possible to support their prospects for a greater public school system throughout District 37B.
She has volunteered for many local organizations including the Oxford Appeals Board, Holy Trinity Church’s COVID Advisory Group, Oxford Kids Camp Medical Director and numerous other roles. She was a major supporter of the county’s active efforts to increase the pay levels and benefits for Sheriff Gamble and the County Sheriff’s Office staff.
Her dedication to others is remarkable. After breaking her pelvis in four places in a biking accident several years ago, she managed not to miss a single day of work in her office. Think about that! She worked through the pain and adapted. She does things for the right reasons and is a natural leader. She isn’t afraid to make an unpopular decision if it serves a higher purpose. She will work across the aisle with anyone.
She will have a proactive agenda for District 37B – for school children, for economic development, for strong comprehensive planning and for our watermen and farmers (many of whom are her patients). Her long experience as a small businessperson and her hands on involvement in health care, especially as a primary care provider make her uniquely qualified to serve District 37B in the state legislature.
Its fair to say none of her opponents have the combined quality and breath of her experience in small business, health care, public education and community involvement. Susan is the real deal. Her campaign logo, the Black-eyed Susan, is the perfect reflection of her “Can Do” attitude, her optimism for the future of the Eastern Shore and her willingness to work hard to get things done.
One of her opponents is guaranteed to take one of the two District 37B seats. District 37B voters need to know they will be best served in the state legislature with Susan Delean-Botkin as part of that delegation.
