June in the galleries at DCA features the Annual Members Show in the Main Gallery along with “A Lasting Legacy: Art from DCA’s Founders” in the Front Gallery. This is the opportunity DCA takes each year to thank members for their support and to showcase their best original work. This year, select pieces from several of DCA’s founders will be featured as well, including work by Beebe Winterbottom and the late Mary Hester. Both were members of DCA’s first Board of Directors, and Mary Hester later served as President.
Through the efforts of Bob Tolley, Shirley Brannock and John Bannon – all graduates of the Maryland Institute of Art, educators and practicing painters – DCA was founded in 1970 and continues to serve as a cultural arts center as well as the designated Arts Council for Dorchester.
The exhibit will run through June 26. Gallery hours are Thursday noon – 6:00 p.m., Friday and Saturday 11:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. DCA will be open to the public on Second Saturday, June 12 through 8:00 p.m. The reception will be held via Facebook live starting at 6:00 p.m. Watch for a surprise pop-up exhibit, too!
