The year has been off to a good start as we are working with the City and County to advance work on Cambridge Harbor. The Board had our Annual Meeting in January where we elected the officers for this year and assigned members to committees. These are the seats our Board Members are filling for this year:

  • Angie Hengst – President; Communications & Outreach Committee, Chair
  • Mike Frenz – Vice President; Finance Committee
  • Natalie Chabot – Secretary; Finance Committee; Communications & Outreach Committee; CWDI appointee to Richardson Maritime Museum Board
  • Frank Narr – Treasurer; Finance Committee, Chair; Planning Committee
  • Tim Crosby – Planning Committee, Chair
  • Gaver Nichols – Planning Committee

We do still have one vacant seat to be filled by a City appointee. We are looking forward to receiving a list of potential candidates from the City.

Also in January, the Planning Committee held a 4-day design charrette with our urban design consultant, Lew Oliver. Throughout the four days, Lew and his team met the CWDI Board, the City Planner, the City and County Managers along with representatives from the City and County Councils. The results of this work will be made available to the public and will be used as the basis for the RFP to the development community later this year. It is important that we present the development community with details on the desired look and feel for Cambridge Harbor. This will also ensure continuity across the site whether there is one developer or multiple developers chosen.

On January 15th we had a work session with Planning and Zoning to review the infrastructure design plans. This meeting was open to the public and I encourage you to watch the recording here.

You will see the level of thought and attention to detail that is going into planning the public infrastructure. On March 4th, the Planning & Zoning Committee approved CWDI to continue with the design of the road and utility network of Cambridge Harbor. You can watch the recording of the meeting here. Scroll to the 36 minute mark.

The Waterfront Promenade work is coming along and is on schedule for completion early summer. I encourage you to visit the site to view the progress. Once complete, this biking and walking path will be the first new amenity that the public will be able to enjoy at Cambridge Harbor.

Our next Board Meeting will be March 19th at 4pm at the Dorchester Chamber of Commerce. The public is welcome to attend the open session of the meeting. We are also now recording our meetings and they will be made available on the CWDI website. You can watch the January meeting here.

If you would like to reach out to CWDI directly, you can do so via the CWDI website, where you will find contact information for all our Board members as well as additional information on Cambridge Harbor.
