The 75th annual Cambridge-Dorchester County Christmas Parade, one of the largest nighttime Christmas parades in the state, kicks off at 5 p.m. on Saturday, December 7th, 2024, with pre-parade entertainment provided by artist Rebecca Bailey starting at 4:15 pm at the reviewing stand located at Craig’s Drugstore parking area. The parade can be viewed on High Street, Poplar Street, and Race Street, ending at Washington Street.

This year’s parade is themed “A Diamond Parade” in celebration of this cherished holiday tradition reaching its 75th anniversary. Spectators can enjoy a dazzling procession of lights, music, marching bands, school groups, dance teams, and festive floats along High, Poplar, and Race Streets in historic downtown Cambridge.

“The parade has become a beloved tradition, marking the official kickoff to the holiday season,” says Bruce McWilliams, Parade Chairman. “We’re excited to bring this surge of excitement to our community once again, thanks to the incredible support of our volunteer committee and generous donors, which has been in full swing since 1946.”

The parade attracts thousands to the streets of downtown Cambridge, all who bustle to see and enjoy the festivities.

“Our event is one of few that I am aware that is 100% volunteer organized and funded completely by private donors,” comments Bruce McWilliams, Parade Chairman. “Our committee is honored to once again have the ability to bring this surge of excitement to our visitors and citizens, and it’s all thanks to the people and businesses that support us every year. Without the support of our donors, the parade would cease to exist.”

This year’s parade promises to be a real treat! Nine marching bands have registered, including the return of crowd favorites Bowie State University and the Symphony of Soul. “There are a ton of floats and dance teams that have entered, and it’s looking to be a quality parade” says McWilliams.

The Cambridge-Dorchester County Christmas Parade is a 100% volunteer-run, non-profit event. Donations to this 501(c)(3) are tax-deductible.  To join the tradition as a sponsor or participant, visit our website at www.christmasparade.org For questions, contact Bruce McWilliams at 443-521-1671 or [email protected], or visit the event webpage for general information.
