Oakley Street refers to the 100-acre Oakley Farm that started with its original patent in 1683, a year before Cambridge was first laid out and made a port of entry. The land was patented as Foulkes Content, but it would become over the years Lockermans Regulation, Oakly Farm, Oakley Farm, and finally The West End. The Oakley Farm property makes up the overwhelming majority of the residential properties in the Cambridge Historic District.

It not only would have been the right thing to do, but also would give your readers an opportunity to to read more about Cambridge’s earliest settlers and transformation of the farm from 1683 patent to actual farm to cambridge suburb.
