Candice Gasper, owner of Valley Mill Microgreens in Harford County, will discuss growing and using microgreens at the April 10 meeting of the Chesapeake Bay Herb Society. She founded the firm in 2021 after a successful career in sales and marketing in the environmental consulting and green construction industries.
After volunteering at her neighborhood farmer’s market in 2016 and an urban farm in Washington, DC, Candice completed her Permaculture Design Certification in 2018. She traveled to France to work at two organic farms and also worked for two farms in the Baltimore and Washington area before starting her business.
The society will meet at 6 p.m. at Christ Church Parish Hall, 111 S. Harrison Street, Easton. Meetings include a social period, an herbal potluck dinner, a short business meeting, and a presentation on an herb-related topic. The theme for April is the herbs of Senegal (cumin, coriander, ginger, garlic, thyme, mint, chili peppers, and parsley).
CBHS was formed in 2002 to share knowledge of herbs with the local community. The group maintains the herb garden at Pickering Creek Audubon Center.
