The Oxford Community Center (OCC) is proud to welcome Dr. Margaret Andersen, acclaimed sociologist and co-editor of Moving from the Margins: Life Histories on Transforming the Study of Racism, for a thought-provoking moderated discussion on Wednesday, March 20, at 6:30 PM.

Dr. Andersen, an award-winning scholar and professor, has spent her career exploring race, class, and gender in America. Her latest book is a powerful collection of essays from leading sociologists who reflect on how their personal experiences have shaped their work in understanding racial inequality. The discussion will delve into how lived experience influences scholarship, the evolving study of race, and the ongoing impact of social structures on marginalized communities.

“We are honored to host Dr. Andersen and provide a space for meaningful conversation about race, scholarship, and social change,” said Liza Ledford, Executive Director of Oxford Community Center. “Her work challenges us to think critically about the way personal narratives shape the study of racism and how we, as a society, can learn from these stories.”

The event is free and open to the public. Seating is limited, but reservations are required, and early arrival is recommended. For more information, please visit www.oxfordcc.org.
