English actor Simon Fisher-Becker, 63, died at 2:50pm March 9, his husband, Tony Dugdale, confirmed. He was best known for his role as intergalactic black marketeer Dorium Moldovar on the popular TV series
Doctor Who, appearing in seasons five and six of the reboot.

He also appeared in Harry Potter and The Sorceror’s Stone as Hufflepuff House’s resident ghost, the Fat Friar. Other notable credits include 2012’s Oscar-winning film Les Misérables, and the classic shows One Foot In The Grave and Love Soup.

Of local interest is the fact that Fisher-Becker played the major role of British agent Tony Simon on the radio show “The Hawk Chronicles.” The sci-fi series was created and produced by Cambridge native Steve Long.

Remembering the actor who entertained audiences everywhere, one fan wrote online, “Simon Fisher-Becker was always amazing in everything he did. We’ve lost a shining light!”
