Christina Wingate-Spence, executive director of Cambridge Main Street, has announced that the organization will be hosting Mistletoe on Main – a day-long holiday experience – on Saturday, December 14.
Mistletoe on Main will kick off with Breakfast with Santa and Mrs. Claus, at Dorchester Center for the Arts. Doors will open at 9 a.m. with breakfast being served at 9:30 a.m. The event will feature local eateries, including Lil’ Bitta Bull BBQ and Black Water Bakery + Eats. Attendees will have an opportunity to visit with Santa, as well as have professional photographs taken by local photographer, Shannon Chambers Photography. Advance tickets are required and are currently available at DowntownCambridge.org/events.
Following breakfast, multiple activities will be taking place throughout the day, from 11:30 a.m. – 5 p.m., including The Christmas Shoppe on Poplar, a holiday vendor fair; pet pictures with Santa, the proceeds of which will benefit Baywater Animal Rescue and Dorchester County Dog Control; a Letters to Santa station; a Christmas Cocktail Crawl, highlighting specialty holiday cocktails at a number of downtown Cambridge restaurants; a professional caricaturist, who will be creating drawings on the street; carolers; and a photo booth. Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Eastern Shore will also be set up with holiday crafts for kids. Poplar Street will be closed for this event from 8 a.m. until 6 p.m.
“Cambridge Main Street is excited to introduce Mistletoe on Main to the community, in celebration of the holiday season,” says Wingate-Spence. “We are dedicated to providing opportunities for families to visit and spend time in downtown Cambridge, while showcasing our Main Street merchants, small businesses, galleries and restaurants.”
Following Mistletoe on Main, the community is invited to attend Christmas on Pine, a Joy Night hosted by Groove City Black Heritage and Culture Group, beginning at 5:30 p.m., at Bethel AME Church, in Cambridge.
“This holiday experience will be a day-long celebration and will have something for everyone,” adds Wingate-Spence. “We look forward to local community members and visitors to this area spending the day with us in the Cambridge Main Street District.”
