On Saturday, July 27 from 2 to 9 p.m., WHCP-FM, Mid-Shore Community Radio known for Music Discovery and NPR is celebrating its first year of being a full power 14,000-watt station on 91.7 FM – and its 8th year as an independent, local, grass-roots community radio station with an all-day Music Festival and Fundraiser at Oxford Community Center in Oxford, Maryland.

The musical lineup is all local, all live, and all awesome performers including:

  • Heartside with Sam Pugh – Sam has an angelic voice and writes highly personal songs about the journey from childhood to adulthood.  Cambridge and Easton-based, Sam is a talented, heartfelt songwriter and will share songs from Heartside’s new EP called Somewhere In Between.
  • Steve Lowe & The Lowe Downs – St. Michaels-based Steve Lowe writes well-crafted songs of introspection, hope and joy. Joining Steve are highly skilled musicians Chris Levey bassist extraordinaire from Easton, Dave Moore on banjo, guitar, and vocals and Mark Gadson, St. Michaels-based music producer and recording artist on drums and percussion. The group concentrates on songs from the Americana genre.
  • Daphne Eckman – One of 45 out of 7,000 entries becoming a “Top Shelf” finalist in this year’s NPR Tiny Desk contest – an Annapolis, MD-based indie musician who creates space for catharsis – laugh, sing, scream, dance, and maybe shed a tear.  Her debut album released this year is called “Where You Left Me.”  After selling out shows at Rams Head On Stage and the Stoltz, she will bring her band to WHCP’s festival and take us on a journey.
  • Black Dog Alley – Easton-based favorite featuring Black Dog Alley is on a mission to move, groove, and rock your very soul!  From classic jam rock and rhythm and blues, to funk and reggae-tinged grooves. Black Dog Alley will have you up and dancing!

For $100 you can be a VIP!  As a VIP you get admission to the preferred VIP Viewing Section, plus food and beverages (advance ticket sales only through 7/22/24). A General Admission Ticket costs just $60 in advance (or $75 on the day of the event and at the door). No outside food or beverages or coolers are allowed. Food, beverages, and libations will be available for sale. Proof of ID is required.

Guests are encouraged to bring lawn chairs, but no pop-up tents, canopies, or pets will be allowed. The event will be moved inside the Oxford Community Center in case of inclement weather.  Proceeds benefit WHCP Radio 91.7 FM – “Music Discovery & NPR”.
