The June 4th session of the Cambridge Planning and Zoning Commission featured a presentation by Chase Powell of Green Street Housing. He talked about the proposed redevelopment of 505-509 Race Street—which includes the dilapidated Hearn Building—into a new mixed-use property.

Their proposal is that the ground floor would be commercial with a few residential units in the back while the rest would be residential. In this 14-minute video, Powell presents the plan’s particulars, including their intention to raze the venerable Hearn Building. Ultimately, Commissioner William Craig stated that the ground-floor residential portion would not comply with city code, and the Green Street reps promised to rework the plan before representing at a later date.

This video is approximately 12 minutes in length.
