The Politico website is reporting Former Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan is launching a Senate bid.

The anti-Trump Republican is expected to file for the open Senate seat on Friday, the last day of the filing deadline.

    A quick reminder {and very truncated} , in case you need one, for why Hogan should not be Maryland’s next Senator:

    For the first time in his tenure, Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan crystallized his position on abortion Friday by vetoing a bill that would have expanded access to the procedure.

    Hogan (R) was cornered into rendering judgment on some of the most controversial topics of his tenure when the Democratic-controlled legislature sent him a package of liberal priorities, including a law that sought to bring abortion services to the two-thirds of Maryland counties lacking them.

    Hogan, a Catholic who had been able to dodge weighing in on abortion by saying it was a matter of “settled law” in Maryland, on Friday established he’s willing to curtail access to the procedure… [Note: Roe v Wade was “settled law” too – we see how well that held]

    On Friday, he also vetoed nine other bills, including some that would have created a state paid family leave program, bolstered unions and forced firearm dealers to adopt specific security measures….
