The World War I Memorial Fountain at Cambridge’s Long Wharf Municipal Park is dedicated to the forty-five Dorchester County men who died in the Great War. It was designed by the Westinghouse Company and built in the Rustic Style, of local field stone and boulders.
The dedication that took place at 8pm on June 30, 1938, was conducted by the County and City Commissioners, Drum and Bugle Corps, Army National Guard, Rescue Fire Company, Veterans Association, Boy Scouts, Women’s Auxiliary, and Sons of the American Legion, among others.
In 1986, the Cambridge Rotary Club rehabilitated the fountain to provide a larger spray.
