Also known as the Market Street Bascule Bridge, the Cambridge Creek Drawbridge was built in 1938 and is the main link between Route 50 and Downtown Cambridge. It opens several times per day to let boats travel to and from the Choptank River and the Chesapeake Bay. In fact, it opens more than 8,000 times a year, making it the second busiest of the 19 drawbridges managed by the Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration.
