The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration will remove an abandoned railroad crossing on MD 343 (Washington Street) near Dorchester Avenue in Cambridge on Monday, May 22. Crews will begin work at 6 a.m. and expect to be complete by 6:30 p.m., weather permitting. The State Highway Administration is removing the unused railroad crossing to allow for future intersection improvements in that area.
Due to the location of the work, the following detour route will be posted for motorists to navigate around the project limits:
• right onto Dorchester Avenue;
• left onto Cedar Street; and
• left onto Peach Blossom Avenue, then back to MD 343 (Washington Street).
The State Highway Administration understands detours can be an inconvenience, but asks for motorists’ patience while this work is completed.
Motorists in need may dial #77 on their mobile devices for roadside assistance. For a list of all major State Highway Administration projects, go to the Project Portal. Visit the homepage at roads.maryland.gov. For a look at real-time traffic conditions, go to md511.maryland.gov.
